GENERAL RACE INFORMATION
RACE
ENTRIES
1. Mail entry fees and
entry cards to the Race Organizer so that it arrives one week
before the race date. See back of this handbook for a copy of
the Entry Card or get one from our website (www.pnsamasters.org).
Calling or emailing the Race Organizer is NOT considered
pre-entering a race. All races but the PNSA Championships (Mt.
Bachelor) will allow same-day entry, but expect to pay a Late
Fee, usually $5.
2. Online Registration
at
www.pnsamasters.org. To get the online registration for an
event, click on the race name in the PNSA Masters schedule.
3. Entry Fees: We have
increased the fees for races this year from $20 to $25. The
reason for this increase is the costs incurred for the races are
also increasing. And the $25 race fee is consistent with the
other Masters Divisions. Each race club sets their own fee
level, however most areas stay relatively close to these: SL &
GS $25 per day. SG $35.00. The PNSA Championships, the Western
Region Championships and U.S. National Championships each have
their own fee schedule. Those fees are set based on their cost
structure. Check www.pnsamasters.org or the Masters Handbook for fee
information.
4. All entries for the
National Championships must be sent to: Richard Zimmerman, with
full payment of entry fees for all races entered plus the
banquet. The payment must be received not later than Jan 31,
2008. See Chapter 5 (Masters Handbook) for details. A: Richard Zimmerman 4921 N
Scenic View Tacoma, WA 98407; T: 253-468-8806; E: rzimmerman@harbornet.com.
USSA/PNSA MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS
Racers must have a
current USSA Masters Competition Card. This must be shown at
time of race sign in. A temporary, or "day-of-race" membership,
can be purchased at the race site.
HELMETS
Racers must wear a ski
helmet in ALL events.
SIDE-SLIPPING
Competitors are only allowed into the
race arena under the approval of the race crew managing the
event. Side-slipping is required by all racers prior to the
race, and racers may be asked to continue slipping throughout
the race. Always slip the high and low line of the race course,
not just the line you want to take.
COURSE
INSPECTION
The USSA Competition Guide
stipulates that only competitors with a bib are allowed into the
race arena. The race officials will designate how
competitors will inspect the course, e.g., full course slip,
in-and-out only.... Please check with the race official at
the top of the course for the the method of inspection.
HELPING OUT
Most of the race clubs that put on Master’s races work with some
very loyal volunteers. We encourage all Masters racers to help
in the course prep (like slipping out loose snow) and to help in
the tear down (taking poles to finish area) and anything else
that helps.
COURTESY
We
encourage the masters to support the host race club volunteers.
All of us have worked in volunteer situations before and your
recognition of the work they are doing will mean a lot. Go out
of your way to
THANK
the starters, the gate keepers, the people at the bottom
recording times, the folks manning the registration tables.
